Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement. It is a gentle yet powerful complementary therapy that may be used alongside orthodox health care. As such, it expands treatment options.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words:
Putting the 2 words together Reiki means "Spiritually guided life force energy".
Mikao Usui (1865-1926) is the founder of Reiki. He attained enlightenment and a healing ability in 1922 at the age of 57. This happened while he was fasting and meditating on Mt. Kurama in Kyoto, the ancient capital city of Japan.
Reiki's gentle energy is easily adapted to most medical conditions and may be used safely by people of all ages, including the newborn, pregnant mothers, surgical patients, the frail and the elderly, in any situation.
